Long-Haul Flights In Winter Set For Increase

According to a recent survey, as the weather gets colder, customers are becoming increasingly likely to travel abroad. Within the industry, there is a year on year increase in the amount of people travelling abroad during the winter months.

Amongst the top ten destinations are the usual suspects, Tenerife tops the list whilst Orlando and Barbados (which the highest placed Caribbean country) are also in the top ten. Other more exotic places such as Cape Town, Dubai and Goa find themselves amongst the favourites. For the UK market, Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria are the favourites, mainly due to the ease of getting there; cheap flights with low cost airlines have made flying to these destinations extremely easy and affordable.

With the influx of tour operators, flights to these destinations have become a real possibility for people who may not have been able to afford the prices in the past. It is easy to understand why people would choose lying on the golden beaches of Tenerife than walking in the blustery winds of the UK. There are many different destinations that are excellent to visit at this time of year, Southern Europe in the winter is still considerably warmer than the UK and if you visited Cape Town around this time of year, you would be met with 32°C temperatures as they are in their summer months.

There is no place for Australian cities in the top ten so even though there are cheap flights to Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne, maybe this is too far even for the travel enthusiast. Places like Australia maybe further away but with the options available to customers; we may see an increase in the number of people travelling even further a field.
